The ribbed finish on stone consists in a series of grooves with different thicknesses, spaced at varying distances.
Depending on their intended use, and for aesthetic reasons, pieces of ribbed stone can feature grooves running in different directions: horizontally, vertically, diagonally or in a herringbone pattern, all either with or without edging.
